Overview

Managed E-Authentication Service (MEAS) is an electronic service that validates and verifies a user’s identity. MEAS allows the use of electronic signatures over the Internet, the Verizon network and other public networks.

Benefits

  • Security. Verizon has chosen VeriSign, a leading global authority that allows customers to find, connect, secure and perform transactions across today’s complex networks. Verizon will provide both certificate-based MEAS services to VeriSign and validation proxy and user support to the agency.
  • Protection. Verizon will utilize RSA Security’s technology to provide MEAS solutions that help the government securely put critical information into the hands of the people who need it, while protecting that information against unauthorized access.

Features

  • Unified Authentication. If you have concerns that the wrong people are gaining access to your network, Unified Authentication provides a single, integrated platform for provisioning and managing all types of two-factor authentication credentials. It reduces the cost of deployment by leveraging an enterprise's existing infrastructure and reduces the complexity of two-factor security and scalability. For token-based authentication, a security technique that authenticates users attempting to log in to a system, Verizon's solution interfaces securely with a customer’s existing directory server using standard authentication protocols. Users log in to systems using their assigned user credentials and the Unified Authentication one-time password token. The MEAS authentication platform confirms the one-time password entered by the users and acknowledges the users’ access with the directory server.
  • Managed Strong Authentication. Managed Strong Authentication provides a single, integrated platform for provisioning and managing all types of two-factor authentication credentials. It reduces the cost of deployment by leveraging an enterprise's existing infrastructure and reduces the complexity of two-factor security and scalability.
  • Managed Security Services. A complete security program that includes around-the-clock management and monitoring, real-time security intelligence, a global infrastructure, and a staff of 24x7 security experts is key to keeping pace with today's increasingly complex network security threats. For token-based authentication, Verizon's solution interfaces securely with an agency’s existing directory server using standard authentication protocols. Agency users log in to systems using their assigned user credentials and the Managed Strong one-time password token. The MEAS authentication platform confirms the one-time password entered by the users and acknowledges the users’ access with the directory server. Once authenticated, the users are able to access their assigned resources. The One Time Password (OTP) authentication service consists of:
    • Support for strong authentication using, device-generated OTPs that are validated at the customer premise wherein the managed device will reside.
    • A single provisioning and management platform that provides credential enrollment and renewal, centralized directory support, and administration and management of tokens and users.
    • Token management and components to support one-time password authentication for Windows, Linux and Unix logon provided through Verizon’s Management, Applications, Reporting and Tracking Integration approach.
  • Managed PKI Services. The Verizon managed public key infrastructure (PKI) deploys digital certificate services that enable customers to reduce the cost and complexity of PKI implementations, while providing globally trusted, state-of-the-art authentication, encryption, digital signing, and non-repudiation services within and beyond the enterprise. Managed PKI service has been proven under real-world conditions to scale smoothly from thousands to hundreds of thousands of users, enabling agencies to deploy digital certificates as needed. And because all services are hosted on our existing infrastructure, implementation can be completed in a matter of weeks.
