Colocated Hosting Services (CHS) enable customers to colocate Government Furnished Property (GFP) within a Verizon Business-maintained data center that gives customers 24x7 access. CHS gives customers flexibility to control their own Web hosting platforms, while benefiting from colocating platforms in highly secure sites. The service also addresses the “last mile” problem—potential bandwidth limitations between Agency buildings and Internet Service Providers. By opting for collocation, customers eliminate substantial investments in high-speed access solutions.

• Enhanced Security and Redundancy. . The Verizon Business CHS solution provides secure, carrier-grade space for customers to colocate their equipment in a managed environment that ensures quality, reliability and redundancy of mission-critical operations and applications. Verizon Business has 13 Premium Data Centers (PDCs) located in major business markets throughout the United States, which are designed to provide enhanced security and redundancy for critical facility systems.
• Round-the-Clock Access. Customers can access Verizon Business PDCs around the clock, 24x7x365.

Verizon CHS features data centers with 24x7 access, layers of redundant power, security and exceptional network quality, as detailed below:

• Comprehensive Reliability and Availability. With each PDC, customers have direct access to one of the world's largest network backbones, driven by burstable, redundant, diversely routed bandwidth. Web traffic flow can travel at optimal speeds, from DS1/T1 through OCx, with numerous paths, so there is no single point of failure and information can be sent from point-to-point in the most efficient manner. Verizon Business uses performance trend analysis to isolate the root cause of problems and take or recommend corrective action, as deemed necessary. The Verizon Business PDCs feature several layers of redundant power, including Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) and diesel generators. In the event of a power failure, the centers automatically switch to UPS and then generator power, which ensures continued operation in the event of commercial power failure. As part of this process, power to non-essential building areas is terminated so that power is conserved for server operations.
• Internet Security. Verizon Business offers a broad range of enhanced Internet- and IP-related security options, including firewalls and encryption for dedicated, dialup, satellite and wireless access over public and private networks. Verizon Business has extensive experience with many personal firewall packages (e.g., Network ICE and Zonal Alarm) as well as the GSA standards developed using Secure Client., Verizon Business understands how to implement, maintain, and troubleshoot Secure Client, and also deploys Policy Servers to centrally manage firewall policies on remote client VPN workstations. Inside the data center, Verizon Business provides individually keyed customer equipment cabinets and provides options for electronic security measures at all data center entrances. This includes biometric scanners, interior and exterior closed-circuit surveillance and 24x7 uniformed guard services.

Verizon Business measures jitter, packet delivery and latency between designated interregional transit backbone hub routers in North America, and between New York and London.
