Overview

Intrusion Detection and Prevention Service (IDPS) provides an extra layer of protection for internal customer networks by reducing network service disruptions caused by malicious attacks. IDPS provides both network-based and host-based IDPS service, and generates alerts and records suspicious events as well as provides immediate corrective responses that stop or alleviate malicious attacks.

Benefits

  • Unmatched Ability to Find Threats. Verizon IDPS solutions deliver an unmatched ability to recognize and respond to emerging threats before they adversely affect our customers. This IDPS solution provides advanced management and monitoring services to IDPS technology from industry leading best-of-breed vendors such as Cisco and Juniper/Netscreen. These vendors consistently lead the market in delivering superior manageability, rich feature sets, and excellent price performance.
  • Intrusion Sensors. Verizon will implement IDPS solutions that reduce network service disruptions caused by malicious attacks, and detect signs of intrusion that might jeopardize the confidentiality, integrity, availability, and control of a customer's network. The Verizon IDPS solutions provide intrusion sensors that analyze packet activity for indications of network attack, misuse, and anomalies. The service then generates alerts and records suspicious events. In addition, this IDPS solution provides immediate corrective responses, such as dropping or rerouting malicious packets, to stop or alleviate malicious attacks.

Features

  • Turnkey Solution. Verizon's IDPS are comprehensive, turnkey security solutions without the expense and complexity of deploying a security solution internally. Each customer can be assured that all its requirements will be satisfied clearly, concisely, and uniformly to remove the burden of planning, designing, deploying, managing, monitoring, and maintaining its own security solution.
  • Threat and Risk Correlation Technology. The success of this service relies on the power and flexibility to monitor and assess threats and risks to a customer. The Verizon Security Portal offers a threat and risk management platform for efficiently handling security threats in accordance with the tailored requirements of each customer. The portal handles the large volumes of alarms and alerts intrusion sensors generate.
  • Best of Breed Vendors. Verizon's IDPS solution will provide advanced management and monitoring services to IDPS technology from industry leading best-of-breed vendors such as Cisco and Juniper/Netscreen. These vendors consistently lead the market in delivering superior manageability, rich feature sets, and excellent price performance. Their market strength suggests they will remain optimal suppliers of these technologies through the life of the contract. However, should a better alternative arise later in the contract life, the architecture of our offering will minimize the time and effort required to incorporate alternative technology. Verizon will use these technologies, featuring both unique and common security methodologies, to devise scalable, robust, secure solutions of all sizes and complexity to meet the unique requirements of each customer with one or a combination of premises-based intrusion-detection systems.
